Dybbuk Bat Mitzvah is a raw, open-hearted coming-of-age story that riffs on ancient Jewish folklore with intimacy and precision, tracking the terrors and triumphs of girlhood. Dybbuk Bat Mitzvah was a finalist for the Jewish Plays Project 14th National Jewish Playwriting Contest and a winner of the Los Angeles and Berkshires Jewish Playwriting Contests.
The reading runs approximately 110 minutes with no intermission. Dybbuk Bat Mitzvah is written by Becca Schlossberg and directed by Ilana Stein.
Becca Schlossberg (they/them) is a Jewish, award-winning, non-binary, plant daddy/writer/performer. They are best known for their play, JUST LIKE I WANTED (Playscripts), a drama about teen suicide, which has been performed around the world. Other plays include DYBBUK BAT MITZVAH (Jewish Plays Finalist), WHIPPING BOY, MORE, DISCUS (Samuel French), THE UNTOLD YIPPIE PROJECT (Samuel French), 3BOYS (Original Works Publishing), FOREVER FRIENDS (Playscripts) and many others. Proud 2026 recipient of an NYSCA Support for Artist Grant and an Alfred P. Sloan New Play Commission.
